Think cozy, candles, games, and hot chocolate but we're spicing it up with a live DJ, flash tatts, and raffle prizes. ​This isn't your average Pray for Snow party, we're creating an opportunity for outdoorsy people to connect and find a basecamp where all your adventures can begin. Start melting the Seattle Freeze with Gearhouse. ​We'll be partnering with NWAC, Feathered Friends, Rising Roots, and WTA to set the scene for your summit-seeking winter! ​Raffle tickets will be given out all night for the chance to win some really cool raffle prizes. **Optional dress code: ugly sweaters** ​So mark your calendars for an unforgettable ski trip right here in Capitol Hill.

This session dives into the essentials of winter backcountry preparation: what to wear, what to pack, and how to select partners who complement your goals and skill level. We’ll explore how these decisions shift depending on the day’s objective. By the end, you’ll have a clearer framework for building a backcountry kit and team that set you up for safety, success, and fun in the mountains.

We all use weather forecasts to decide how to plan our week or whether to grab a rain jacket. Using weather data and forecasts is also crucial to understanding avalanche risk. In this session, participants will be guided through exercises using the Mountain Weather Forecast and Weather Station Data to understand how weather affects the snowpack. Join NWAC weather and avalanche forecasters to discuss how you can best use our purpose-built mountain weather forecasts to prepare for your next adventure and learn how to apply the forecast to your trip plan.
